Ok let's see - we have an image hosted on a profile that is 1 day old and asks you to visit a website with a strange url with a promise of a financial reward on an another website. How do you even imagine that would work? And now, of course, people start crying that their computers got infected with malware. Which is great - every genius who fell for this obvious phishing scam deserved it. I hope your shitty computer burns and you along with it.

The trailer to "Equestria Girls" (the humanized MLP spinoff film) finally was released today. Aaaannnd everyone's freaking out. Again.
You know, it actually looks pretty decent. Bronies... please understand: I know you're a major unexpected demographic for the show. I know you enjoy seeing shout-out's become canon within the show, and appreciate how the creators do little things here and there for you. But... the show isn't made for you. This is not Cartoon Network and the target demographic isn't 25 year olds in college. You're a nice addition to the target demographic of little girls, but you are not the driving force behind MLP.
I don't want this to sound mean, but it needs to be said. This is where it becomes very important to understand the fine line between being a fan of the show and thinking that because you've invested so much energy into the show that you're entitled to things.
I'm sure the movie won't be as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It honest

IMPORTANT NEWS re: Captain Canuck Art Contest!

With the closing date of the contest fast approaching, I would like to thank everyone who has to date submitted an entry! With your help, the Captain Canuck 35th Anniversary Art Book will be absolutely fantastic, and I am looking forward to putting it together in the coming months!

NEW CLOSING DATE FOR CONTEST ENTRIES - September 8th, 2010

I would also like to announce that the contest deadline will be extended until September 8th, 2010.

There are several reasons for this additional time being added.

a) DeviantART has been acting absolutely bonkers (for me anyway) these last two weeks or so.  I have been unable to access my notes, entrant's pages, etc. I am still having major technical issues with the website, regardless of what computer I use, or what browser I am running.  90% of the time, any link I click on "can't be found" because of a server issue.  This has prevented me from sending out reminders and posting entries in a timely fashion.

b) Richard Comely is away on vacation, and it will be a few weeks before I am able to contact him and have him assist in the judging.  One of those unavoidable things when you are trying to "surprise" someone, is that they aren't always available when you need them to be.  Richard is currently visiting the Western provinces of Canada, but will return shortly, and I think his assistance will be invaluable in determining the winners.

c) Several DeviantARTists have requested an extension. I knew we would be taking a chance with the summer being Comic Convention season, and so many artists having to commit time and energy to those events, and I want to give them a fair shake too.  Others have been on vacation and have only recently received my initial requests to participate.

d) I really want to see 100 entries.  We are SO CLOSE to achieving that goal, and everyone has worked so hard on their submissions. I really want to give away that extra cash and prizes, but we need 100 entries minimum to do it!

Hopefully this extension will help us reach our goal!

special note to those deviantARTists who have already submitted your entry: If you wish to retouch and/or resubmit your initial entry, this is the chance you may have been looking for!  You can even submit an entirely NEW piece in place of your old one!  Your old entry will be moved to the "GIFT ART" category if you submit an entirely new piece.  We still have a strict ONE ENTRY PER DeviantARTist rule, but ALL ENTRIES ("Gift Art") included, will be considered for entry into the Art Book, so if you want to take another crack at it, be my guest!
